Something Great Blog Tour Stop with Teaser & Giveaway!

Title: Something Great
Author: M. Clarke
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours
Synopsis:

* This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+ due to sexual content and mature subject matter.

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.

Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He was everything Jeanella didn’t need in her life. Only Maxwell didn’t see it that way. His pursuit was relentless, making her even more determined to push him away.

Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before—dangerous, heart pounding and breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Maxwell, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, smooth words and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, her mind was utterly consumed by him. Would she be willing to ignore all the dangerous signs and jump into his arms? Or would she miss out on the chance of finding something great?

Author Bio:
Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book, No Bullies Allowed.

Teaser:
“I think this is my stop,” he muttered, looking straight at me. “I’m not wanted in there. What do you think?” He arched his brows, and his tone held a note of challenge.
Huh? He wants to go in with me? I gasped silently, as I was still lost in his eyes. “I think the women in there will throw themselves at you.” I couldn’t believe I’d said those words. I couldn’t take it back. What was I doing, flirting with him?
He seemed to like what he heard. His arms reached out, his muscles flexing as he placed one on each side of me on the wall. With nowhere to go, I was trapped inside the bubble of his arms. He leaned down toward the left side of my face and brushed my hair with his cheek. “You smell…delicious,” he whispered.  His hot breath shot tingles to places I hadn’t expected them.
Out of nervousness and habit, my left index finger flew inside my mouth. Max gave a crooked, naughty grin and slowly took my hand out of my mouth. “Did you know that biting one’s finger is an indication one is sexually deprived?” His words came out slowly, playfully, but hot. “I can fix that for you, if you’d like.”
He did not just say that to me! I parted my lips for a good comeback, but I couldn’t find one. Feeling my chest rise and fall quickly, I tried to control the heated desire. Sure, he’d helped me once, but that didn’t mean we were friends, or flirting buddies, or that I would allow him to fix my sexual deprivation. Oh God…can guys tell if you haven’t done it in a very long time? This had to stop or else…oh dear…I wanted to take him with me into the restroom.
Needing to put a stop to the heat, I placed my hand on his chest…big mistake. Touching him made the heat worse, and tingles that were already intensifying burst through every inch of me. I had to push him away.
As if he knew what I meant to do, he pulled back, but his eyes did the talking instead. There was no need for words; I felt his hard stare on my body, as if he was undressing me with his gorgeous eyes. His gaze was powerful, as if his eyes were hands; I felt them all over me, completely unraveling me.
Just when I thought I was going to faint, his eyes shifted to mine again. “It was really nice to meet you, Jenna. I’m sure we’ll see each other again, real soon. I better let you go.  Your someone must be waiting for you. By the way….” There was a pause as he charmed me with his eyes again. “You…took my breath away. If I were your someone, I wouldn’t let you out of my sight for even a second, because someone like me will surely try to whisk you away.” He winked and left.

My Demonic Ghost - The Reapers Blog Tour Stop with Interview & Giveaway!

Hello Everyone and welcome to the start of the 'Staccato Publishing Autumn Family' book tour! Our first week we get to meet the lovely author Jacinta Maree and a look into her series 'My Demonic Ghost: The Reapers' book 2!! Check it out and make sure to enter the giveaway below!

The Reapers by Jacinta Maree

Book Blurb:
The day you die is meant to be the end, but for 18 year old Jordon Hastings, his death was only the beginning.

In a dark and twisted world, lost spirits known as Reapers remain behind after death to help collect the spirits from the realm of the living. A new Reaper, Jordon struggles to accept his fate and lingers in the shadows of his mortal life. But when a demon wolf starts to live through his shadow, hunting his family and friends Jordon has no choice but to leave. As soon as he accepts his new role the truth behind the relationship between Reapers and Angelic Hunters is revealed. His loyalty is tested, making him choose between a corrupted God and a single Banished Spirit.

Could you tell potential readers about your book?
My current trilogy is a dark, YA paranormal about the lives of Demons and demonic spirits. From this point of view, the reader gets to stand side by side with a Banished Spirit by the name of Lock and his unfortunate host Rachael. The goal is to free the banished spirit from damnation by defeating the seven deadly sins and avoiding both mythical creatures such as Hunters and Reapers. The aim was to be different and get the audience to cheer on for the bad guy for once.

Is My Demonic Ghost part of a series?  If so, what do you foresee for the series?
It’s part of a trilogy and I have already completed both book two and book three (whoo hoo!). In each series we get to understand a different class of spirits (first book were the Banished, second book the Reapers, third book Hunters and Creators) and you grow to understand no one is purely good or purely bad, not even Angels and Demons.  Fed up with being locked in chains and denied freedom, the Reapers and Banished plan on taking down Heaven and snapping their restraints, allowing all spirits safety and freedom. I invite the reader to watch this world-changing war unfold through three different perspectives.

What do you like most about your characters, Rachael and Lock?
Rachael I admire her bravery and selfishness. You can bet your last dollar that if a demon spirit snatched me up in the middle of the night the last thing I would do is follow him into the depths of Hell. Rachael’s young, she’s fifteen years old but she is so self giving that it often gets her into trouble. Lock is enthusiastic, even though he makes silly mistakes he’s yearning to be accepted and a better person makes my heart melt. You get to watch him struggle, fall, climb back up and push to becoming someone worthy.

How does our world differ from the one you have created?
Demonic Ghost is set in urban times, so there’s all the common presences such as mobile phones and technology, public transport and normal social interactions. What’s so different about it is the interweaving of the spirit worlds. On the outside you would have no idea what’s really sitting just beyond the shadows. Once you’re experienced it for yourself, I promise you’ll be thinking twice before walking down a shadow infested hallway. I had a lot of fun creating domains where each of the Deadly Seven Sins would live. Each Sin is so completely different, that I had to create seven completely different environments and different experiences in each one.

How did the initial idea for My Demonic Ghost come about?
The philosopher Descartes had inspired me in one of his teachings. It was the theory of consciousness where he had question our perceptions and if there was a possibility we were being played a trick by a demon god. Originally the title of the book was My Demonic God, but I changed it to Ghost as ghosts were the main theme.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Pictures and music is my biggest inspiration. I’m always on deviant art where you can find my page: http://jacintamaree.deviantart.com/

Is there anything you are currently working on that you would like to share with us?
I have a few projects in the works. I’ve a fantasy novel that explores the story of giant Zodiac monsters living inside the bodies of children and the struggles of an infected girl tagging along with the Zodiac snake boy (Dusty Blood). I’m also in the middle of a Steam Punk paranormal novel that I’ve just recently signed with Literary Agent Eric Ruben, about the possibility of exchanging wishes for time (Time Weaver: Heart of Cogs).  I've got a Sci-Fi on hold for the time being till I figure out it's direction.

Favourite ice cream flavour?
RockyRoad! Best! *drools*

Who's your favourite book boyfriend?
I have to admit, I can’t help but fall the hardest for my own creations mainly because I spend so much time with them. My favourite is probably Sebastian from Dusty Blood the upcoming fantasy. He’s such a troubled soul that I automatically just want to reach out and help him. I mean com on, look at that face isn't he just so mysterious?

Where can you find the first book 'My Demonic Ghost'? Amazon / Smashwords / Kobo / B&N

Interview with Pepper Winters

Welcome to Worlds of Wonderment, Pepper. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks so much for having me!!! <3

For those who haven’t heard about your book, could you give us a quick overview?
Sure, the best way to describe Tears of Tess is: Dark Romance. There are some areas that are hard to read such as violence and rape, but ultimately it’s a story about love and finding your perfect other even in the strangest of situations. It’s a HEA with no cliffhanger, but there is a second book as I loved the characters too much to stop.

Can you describe Tess and Q in five words?
Um, Passionate, Obsessed, Secretive, Strong, Complex, and Warriors

You cover quite a few dark and gritty subjects in Tears of Tess, how were they to write?
Pretty hard as I really tried to put myself in Tess’s situation to understand how she would feel. Her heart would be racing, her thoughts all scrambled. It wasn’t nice just to imagine… I can’t fathom what it would be like in reality.  The scenes with Q were hard too as she has so many hidden desires she really is a stranger to herself.

Human trafficking is such a terrible issue, what made you want to cover it in your book?
After watching Taken with Liam Neeson I started researching just how rampant it is in the world and it’s pretty horrific. You aren’t safe anywhere these days. India, Egypt, Thailand, Bali, Mexico. If you don’t keep close or aware these sort of situations can happen. And for someone who travels a lot, it’s always been a deep seated fear of mine.

What is the overall message you’d like readers to grasp after reading Tears of Tess?
The fact that everyone has someone out there for each other. Never settle unless your soul is on fire and you are worshipped. If they also take away a harder message to help stop slavery that would be fantastic too.

What is the most interesting thing you learnt while writing your book?
Probably learning about my characters. They really didn’t give a lot of themselves away until I started to write the story. Q always remained very distant in my head, only giving snippets of his thoughts. It wasn’t until the epilogue that he made sense to me.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Purely from imagination. I’m not someone who goes looking for images or bases a location on something I’ve seen. I like to start from scratch in my head.

Describe your ideal setting when writing.
Ideal setting is in my office upstairs with the sun streaming in. However, I mainly write on the couch in the lounge as that is where the heater is and it’s been a cold winter. Lol

Why do you think New Adult has become such a popular category?
I think the category has always been around, it’s just been mixed with full adult fiction for so long. It’s nice to have the distinction of a younger adult, compared to an older adult dealing with heavier things like child raising and divorce. I think the ease of separation has meant easier book selection J Plus all the readers who got hooked on YA needed to evolve to something and NA was the next step.

Summer or Winter?
Even though my last name is Winter and Tess and Q love winter. I’m a summer girl through and through. I HATE being cold. I would be happy if it was 38 c degrees all day everyday. J

Boxers or briefs?
Oh tight boxers for sure. I hate silky boxers and I hate tighty whities, but boxer-briefs. Yum

Do you have a guilty indulgence?
Um, probably Coke Zero. I sip on a glass while I write. I don’t drink coffee or anything else but water and Coke so it’s the only way to get caffeine J

Is there anything you are currently working on that you could share with us?
You know, I wasn’t going to do this as Last Shadow is no here near ready yet, but I’m going to share a bit from this book. Here is the work in progress blurb:

Blurb for Last Shadow

I may exchange dollar signs for a life, but it doesn’t mean I’m without morals.
I may not know my true name, but I don’t need one.
I may be human, but my soul is rotten.

Kage is a perfect shadow. A highly trained killer and unforgiving mercenary, he’s been trained since birth to suffer no emotion, remorse, empathy, or compassion. He’s void, empty—a black unrelenting darkness.
Vivienne is sunlight and happiness. Her twin sister is her reason for living, and she believes her life will be filled with romantic movie-like-moments and golden wrapped opportunities.
But then Kage kills her sister.
By mistake.
His real target was Vivienne, and he steals her away to cover up his blunder. But nothing is secret from the Society of Shadows and Kage is ordered to deliver Vivienne to a high roller in Thailand as a gift for his screw-up.
Kage does his job, and Viv becomes the latest acquisition in a harem of women at the mercy of the highest sadistic bidder.
Life shattered for Viv, and Kage managed to tie up loose ends, but they both weren’t prepared for the unexpected, or a force greater than a human hand.

Excerpt: (unedited, subject to change, copyright Pepper Winters)

Two days later, I boarded a plane to Brisbane, Australia, along with a hoard of brash and loud mouthed imbeciles.
I wanted to wring Sonny’s neck when I took a seat next to a pretty blonde woman with an accent like a broken clarinet. “G’day. Oh, I’m glad you’re sitting next to me and not some horrible hairy old man.”
I guessed that was a compliment seeing as my grey eyes were red-rimmed from lack of sleep, my black t-shirt was scuffed and embellished with the band Korn, and my black jeans needed a wash two weeks ago. I wasn’t exactly a sleek and pretty killer. I preferred to ruff it. Hang with the lower crowd. I found if people were frightened of me, or just plain sickened by my wardrobe sense, they subconsciously stayed away.
I didn’t know if it was my upbringing in the hills of Japan, with no other contact but karate masters and weapon geeks, or if I’d always been a recluse, but I hated the human race with a vengeance. Hence why I’m perfect for my role on earth. An exterminator of a virus gone way out of control. My hatred for humans went so far, I even hated myself. I wanted Sonny to call me after some animal, not a shadow… at least then I could prove I wasn’t human.
“Looks like,” I grunted, slouching in my chair and immediately grabbing the inflight magazine in pretense to shut her up.
A white dainty hand appeared beneath the pages. “I’m Chantelle. If I’m going to be sitting next to you while we fly across the world I think we should be on first name basis.”
Ever so slowly, I lowered the magazine, all the while feeling rage and hatred and need to hurt bubble in my blood like an undetonated bomb. I fixed grey-black irises on her, and let my longish black hair cascade over one eye. I didn’t say a word.
It didn’t take long.
The sparkle in her pretty, innocent eyes dissolved, and fear cast a shadow in one quick swoop. My stomach tensed, recognizing the terror, the awareness that something wasn’t quite right with me. And it fed me better than any drug or delicacy.
She was right to fear me.

I kill in the shadows. I’m your worst nightmare.

Review: Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters

Title: Tears of Tess
Author: Pepper Winters
Age Group: New Adult
Release Date: 28th August 2013
Publishers: Self Published
Available from: Amazon

Source: Author
A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.
“My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold.”
Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.
For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.
But lusty paradise is shattered.
Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.
Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.
Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?
_____________
I wasn’t sure about reviewing Tears of Tess, but all those teasers Pepper posted over Facebook had me wanting to give it a try. I am so glad I did. It’s not as dark as I had thought, but is still gritty and touches on some tough issues. If you’re not a fan of slavery and non-consensual sex, then you may want to give it a miss. But if you can look past these elements and see the story as a whole, you won’t be disappointed.

At its heart, Tears of Tess is a story of survival and self-discovery. We never know how strong we are until we are tested and Tess’s strength constantly shines through the pages. I was continually amazed at her resilience and fortitude no matter her situation. Tess is a heroine you can look up to and admire. When we first meet Tess she’s in a loving, if stifling relationship with Brax. She has some kinky thoughts and desires but Brax isn’t sold on her wanting to explore their sexual relationship more. She hopes their holiday will help him open up a bit, but everything changes in a moment when she’s taken. From here Tess is subjected to degradation and humiliation. I’m not sure I could have survived what she does. Pepper tells Tess’s story so vividly, it’s like you’re right there alongside her. I couldn’t flick through the pages fast enough!

Then there’s Q. Such a dark and intriguing character who will have you quivering in your skin. He’s so complex and it was frustrating at times trying to figure him out. When you do realise the extent of his characters intricacies, it’s hard not to fall for him. He’s a good guy with some rather wicked and sinful cravings. Q makes Tess realise her own dark desires and awakens a fire in her. Their chemistry leaps off the pages and it’s a wonder your fingers don’t burn. She has to come to terms with the fact that she can submit to him but not lose herself in the process. Their journey together is an emotional rollercoaster full of heartbreak, betrayal, erotic discovery, understanding and forgiveness. It will break you, mess with your head and leave you wrung out when you’ve finished. Tears of Tess is such a compelling and beautiful read. I am already looking forward to whatever Pepper releases next.
