Iris Breslin took a leap of faith when she changed her name. As Avery Patterson, she is no longer the daughter of a serial killer. No longer the girl who was bullied and abused through high school. A fresh name and a fresh start at Columbia University means Avery can leave all that behind. There’s only one thing marring her dream of a clean slate….

A boy with a past of his own…
Luke Reid has a lot going for him: sex appeal, badass tattoos and insane musical talent. Despite his guitar skills, his calling in life has always been to serve and protect. A NYPD cop by day, singer in rock band D.M.F by night, from the outside Luke seems like he’s got it made. But falling hard for a girl whose father was accused of deeply sinister acts—a man whom Luke shares a devastating history with, himself—only serves to complicated things.

Pieces of a puzzle….
Four symbols, four methods of destruction.
A trade.
Borrowed wings.

Dark secrets that threaten to destroy.

Winter is one of those books that grabs you from the first page and doesn't let you go until the very last word. Even then I was still caught up in Avery and Luke's story. The ending is a cliffhanger, but not an unresolved one. In this book we get a conclusion to the story arc, but as there are going to be three more books, Rae has left the ending open.

Avery's character drew me in with her strength and vulnerability. She constantly battled with memories of her father and the fact that that he was accused of murdering three people. After five years, she is trying to move on with her life, but it seems that her past won't stay behind her. Especially Luke, hot cop by day, rock god at night. He's spent the last five years keeping an eye on Avery. They share a bond that has tied them together, much to Avery's consternation. She doesn't understand why he wants to go over such a dark period of her life and I wasn't too sure of Luke's intentions at first. He seems a bit mysterious and has a morbid interest in her father. As their story unfolds, you begin to learn there is a lot more to Luke than meets the eye. You begin to realise he may be just an broken as her. They have an undeniable chemistry, but their relationship is pretty complicated. Watching them work through their issues is one of the best things about this book.

When new accusations against Avery's father come to light, the pace really picks up. I had so many unanswered questions I couldn't help but keep reading. I HAD to know. Are Avery's friends who they say they are? What isn't Luke telling her? Is her uncle the bad guy? The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. When I finally found out 'who done it', I was very surprised. These days it can be easy to pick the bad guy but Rae kept me guessing to the end. Winter is an intense, thrilling and sexy read, that will keep you up long after your bedtime. Go forth and get yourself a copy now!

Cover Reveal - Play by Kylie Scott

I can't wait for PLAY! I think Lick was one of my favourite reads of 2013, and if all the excerpts Kylie has been posting are anything to go by, then Play is going to be just as fantastic.

Play by Kylie Scott
Description
Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller LICK.

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.

Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?
